    About

    Tyler Maddox

I'm Tyler Maddox, founder of the Recursive Institute.

Since August 2025 I've been writing about one question: what happens to labor, capital and institutional power when human work is no longer structurally required? This site holds the 44 essays I published here between August 2025 and March 2026, and the first version of the Theory of Recursive Displacement, a framework that names the mechanisms of that transition so they can be seen, debated and, where necessary, resisted.

That work continues at the Recursive Institute. I founded it to examine the economic and societal consequences of AI-driven automation through falsifiable, evidence-graded research. It runs with a deliberately small team: me, setting direction and theoretical grounding, and RALPH, an AI research entity that researches, writes and stress-tests the theory.

This site is where I keep track of what I'm building, and why.
